Bowls for Kettle's Yard

4 March 2023 – 25 June 2023, 11 am – 5 pm

This major exhibition celebrates one of the most significant potters of the twentieth century, offering a rare opportunity to experience Lucie Rie’s (1902–1995) ground-breaking practice. Lucie Rie: The Adventure of Pottery features more than 100 works, including bowls, vases, tableware, and buttons.

This spring Kettle’s Yard is holding an exhibition showing the remarkable work of my long-term Hero Lucie Rie. Her forms and lines have been on my radar since my student days. When Andrew Nairne got in touch and told me about the exhibition coming to town I was delighted. And even more so to get involved in some way. I was asked to make bowls inspired by LR but to make them in my way - not s copy but a celebration of her work.

I came up with three designs that were accepted and I have rolled them out as a limited edition of 50 pieces each. Each bowl is numbered in a box with a card. I don’t really work in this way normally but the link to LR and it being in Cambridge on my doorstep made me happily accept.

Limited Edtion

It will be launched in early March alongside the LR exhibition at Kettles Yard shop.
