This tool allows me to find endless variations on an old theme: the vessel. When working on the wheel I play with proportion and detail to craft a visually pleasing object. Starting with a lump of clay and transforming it into a finished piece using only my hands fills me with pride. I draw freehand onto the form using my trademark crayons. These hand-drawn lines make the work lively, rough, immediate and unique and preserve the moment of mark- making. I enjoy how the lines follow the curves of the pot, coming together or widening. Inspiration comes from little snippets of observation in my environment. My work is marked by strong opposites, not only between shape and pattern but also between the inside and the outside of my pots. Using my own glazes based on recipes which I developed and refined over the years, I create high contrast pieces. I am a potter I make vessels I am Austrian - of course I am highly influenced by her works. She achieved a timeless simplicity in her pots that I admire and crave for my own work. The gardener who adopted a neglected walled garden and brought it back creating a flower heaven for unusual floral specimen. Her way to growing is a very natural and seasonal approach. This was the second year I had chosen locally grown flowers for my Open Studio displays. Apart from ceramics, flowers and flower-arranging are my strongest passions. Anne-Marie's knowledge of the floral world made the visit to her blooms was a treat. She can tell you all the names ideal growing conditions plus thing and dishes you can do and make with them. She also supplies blooms for weddings and other special occasions - even flower confetti is available to her brides. Pedals she lovingly collects and dries in one of her many fascinating outbuildings. Each one telling stories of gone-by times when others cared for this garden dating back as far as the 1850's. We could have spend hours choosing and cutting all the July crop. And we did go home with buckets full of treasure. Anne- Marie gives courses and supplies her flowers - follow her on Instagram to get the full impact of her creative output. This tool allows me to find endless variations on an old theme: the vessel. When working on the wheel I play with proportion and detail to craft a visually pleasing object. Starting with a lump of clay and transforming it into a finished piece using only my hands fills me with pride. I draw freehand onto the form using my trademark crayons. These hand-drawn lines make the work lively, rough, immediate and unique and preserve the moment of mark- making. Inspiration comes from little snippets of observation in my environment. My work is marked by strong opposites, not only between shape and pattern but also between the inside and the outside of my pots. Using my own glazes based on recipes which I developed and refined over the years, I create high contrast pieces.
